MarkLayer is a browser extension for inspecting and annotating websites.
Nothing is sent to us or to any third party. MarkLayer has no servers, no accounts, and no analytics or trackers.
The only data MarkLayer creates is the content you make — your
comments, text/style edits, drawings, saved sessions, and small UI preferences (such as
your display name and whether you've seen the welcome hint). This is stored
locally in your browser using the standard extension storage API
(chrome.storage.local).
MarkLayer runs on a page only when you click its icon or press its shortcut (on-demand). Broad site access is requested at runtime only when you use “Import & open” for a specific site, so annotations can re-apply as you navigate that site. You can decline.
Questions? Open an issue on the project's repository, or email the address listed on the extension's Chrome Web Store page.
